Mobilink proved its mettle on the cricket field by defeating Ufone convincingly by 35 runs in the Aligarh 20Twenty Cricket Tournament held in Lahore recently.
Batting first, Mobilink cricketers rattled up a breezy knock of 206 runs in the allotted 20 overs with Hamad and Haider, two swashbuckling players, notching up 86 and 43 runs, respectively. The two talented cricketers batted with aggression scoring runs in all parts of the lush green arena.
Replying to Mobilink’s mammoth total, Ufone could not sustain the deadly bowling attack and managed to score 171 for the fall of 9 wickets when the over s finished. Naveed Hamdani got 2 wickets for 27 runs and Ijaz Rafiq also clipped 2 wickets for 9 runs. Hamad was declared the ‘Man-of-the-Match’
Mobilink’s cricket captain Tariq Durrani said, “Mobilink is not only involved directly in promoting cricketing talent at the grassroots level for searching talent for Pakistan’s World Cup team in 2011 but we also encourage our own staff to play and enjoy weekend matches throughout the year; our victory today shows that we have cricket talent in the company too.”
