Telenor Pakistan ends Q1′09 with 19.99Mn subscribers

Telenor Pakistan, a subsidiary of Telenor Group, has earned revenues of NOK 1.12 billion in Q1′09, up from NOK 1.04 billion in Q1′08, driven by subscriber growth.
EBITDA grew by 29% due to higher revenues, while the operating loss broadened to NOK 90 million from a loss of NOK 56 million.The Pakistani operator added 597,000 new subscribers, taking the total subscriber base to 19.99 million. ARPU lowered by 15% as both average usage and prices dropped due to intense competition and the general economic slowdown in Pakistan.Capital expenditure dipped due to adjusting network investments to the growth in number of subscriptions and traffic volumes.
