Chaudhry Muhammad Berjees Tahir, MNA/ Chairman Standing Committee on Information Technology chaired a meeting on Saturday in Committee Room No 1, Parliament House to discuss comprehensive briefing by Ministry on "3-G Licensing Policy".
The committee taking a serious note of the environmental hazards caused by the Mobile Phone Towers installed at every nook and corner, enquired from the Ministry that why this issue has not been addressed while framing the policy for 2-G Licensing and Ministry must ensure that the environmental pollution and its hazards will be addressed in the new policy for 3-G before presenting it to the Cabinet.
The committee also recommended that the infrastructure sharing be made mandatory in the new 3-G Licensing Policy for Mobile Operators and the committee also recommended that new entrants be encouraged to participate in the auctioning of 3-G Licensing.
Dr Talat Mahesar, MNA, Anusha Rehman Khan Advocate, MNA, Sajid Ahmad, MNA, Pir Syed Fazal Ali Shah Jilani, MNA, Syed Muhammad Saqlain Bukhari, MNA, Khawaja Sheeraz Mehmood, MNA, Secretary IT and Telecom and other senior officials of Ministry also attended the meeting.-PR
