Telenor to reduce energy use by 50 percent

ISLAMABAD: Telenor, Pakistan has teamed up with Nokia Siemens Networks to implement an energy efficient GSM network that would enable the communication service provider (CSP) to reduce its energy consumption by up to 50 percent.
A press release on Thursday revealed that the Nokia Siemens Networks would build the network using its award-winning Flexi Base Stations, which helps to minimise a network’s environmental impact through reducing its carbon emissions. Telenor Pakistan was committed to significant reductions of its carbon emissions by 2011 and was leading the drive for greener telecom solutions in the Pakistani market. staff report
