Cellphone firm to restore network in Malakand

Pin It Thursday, July 16, 2009 By our correspondent ISLAMABAD: Mobilink has planned to start work on restoring its network in Malakand division from where militants have been flushed out by the Army. Briefing reporters here the other day, Mobilink President and CEO Rashid Khan said they did not exactly know how much their network had been damaged due to the military operation in Swat and Buner.

When asked about the money spent for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in accordance with international standards, he parried the question by only saying Mobilink was doing enough to meet its obligations.Mobilink has set up camps for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) at Kund Park near Jehangira Town which are accommodating 1,000 families. He said one month had passed and the company had planned to run these camps for two more months. “It will be the responsibility of the government to take steps for reviving business activities in Swat and Buner following the completion of military operation,” he said.
