Rs 2.3 billion to be spent on 65 projects in IT sector…

Pin It FAISALABAD (August 10 2009): The federal government has earmarked Rs 2.3 billion for Information Technology (IT)
sector during the current fiscal year to complete 65 projects worth Rs 16 billion.



According to official sources, major thrust in the IT sector would be on the Human Resource Development during 2009-10.
Commenting on the National ICT Scholarship Programme, the sources said target for the current year was to provide foundation training to about 9,000 students. About 700 successful students would get scholarships (target for five years is 3,500 scholarships) for 4-year Bachelor's degree programme in various national universities.
About 1,500 lady councillors would benefit from IT training under Elected Lady Representatives Programme (PHASE-II). The project would be completed by March 2014, sources added. The sources said, "Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) plans to place 400 interns in various companies this year."
