Import of cell phones reduced by 76 percent …

Pin It KARACHI (April 25 2009): Import of mobile phones has reduced by 76 percent during the first nine months of the current fiscal year as compared to the phones imported during the same period of last fiscal year, according to Federal Bureau of Statistics.

The country imported cell phones worth $139.480 million during July-March period of the current fiscal year against the phones import of $581.807 million during the same period of last fiscal year, depicting a decline of $442.327 million or 76 percent.On a yearly basis, the import bill of cell phones has shrunk by $62.305 million or 83.72 percent during March 2009 coming down to $12.114 million as compared to $74.419 million of phones imported during March 2008.
