Blood donation by Mobilink employees

Pin It Islamabad—Mobilink, Pakistan’s market leader in cellular services and subsidiary of Orascom Telecom, as part of its employee volunteerism activity series,

organized blood donation drives at its offices nationwide for children suffering from Thalassemia and other blood diseases. Muzamil Sheikh Media Manager here Wednesday said that in total more than 200 pints of blood were donated to Fatimid Foundation in Karachi and Lahore along with similar healthy blood donations to Sundas Foundation in Islamabad.

Organized under the auspices of Mobilink Foundation the employees were driven with the common goal of providing Thalassemics a chance to live with an improved quality of life. A pint of blood generally suffices three patients adding approximately two to six weeks in their lives, and the contribution marks a commitment to societal and communal well-being, he added.

He said that Employee volunteerism is a core value of Mobilink’s Culture of Excellence and employees are strongly encouraged to develop a humanitarian spirit by participating in nonprofit activities and lifesaving initiatives, such as this gesture, where healthy blood was collected for the unfortunate children. The Torchbearers are sanctioned to clock an average of 4 to 5 dedicated hours per person per month during official working hours. On average the volunteers spent more than 3,000 hours in 2008 in community service and have already clocked in 500 hours this year.
