Tweet Pin It PESHAWAR (November 24 2009): The Inspector General of Police NWFP, Malik Naveed Khan has once again urged the mobile phone customers to verify the ownership of their SIM cards as soon as possible for their safety and in the larger interest of the country. In a statement issued from Central Police Offices Peshawar here on Monday, the IGP revealed that according to an estimate, mobile phones are used in 90 percent terrorist activities taking place in the country.

The main reason for that, he continued is that consumers are issued Sim cards without any verification, which poses serious threats not only to the law and order but also to the mobile customers. The IGP appealed to the general public to get their Sim ownership details verified in different mobile companies centres at the earliest, and demonstrate patriotism by extending needed help to the police.

Likewise, the IGP called upon the representatives of the mobile companies to effectively streamline the issuing of new Sim cards to the consumers in the larger interest of the country, and stressed that no one be issued connection without national identity card and Nadra verification. They were further asked to make the dealers responsible and answerable for any violation, and also run advertisement campaign for the purpose through print and electronic media.
