NAVTEC has trained 100,000 youth during the last 2 years in various technical disciplines

Pin It ISLAMABAD: The National Vocational and Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC) has trained 100,000 youth during the last 2 years in various technical disciplines for useful trades under the President's "Funni Maharat Programmes" and Prime Minister's "Hunarmand Programme".The programmes trained the youth in collaboration with leading training institutes in public and private sectors and for the first time in nation's history, the NAVTEC has developed National Skills Strategy 2009-2013 with the vision of 'Skills for Employability for All'.These views were expressed by Executive Director NAVTEC, Athar Tahir regarding the workshop of Indonesia-Pakistan Calligraphy and Batik here at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA). Athar Tahir, who is also co-curator of Waxing Lyrical: Indonesian-Pakistan Cultural Exhibition and Skill Development Workshops, said that it is NAVTEC's first joint effort with another country.As many as 37 students from Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), National College of Arts, Rawalpindi, Talagang Vocational Training Centre, Talagang, Department of Fine Arts, Peshawar University, Government Polytechnic Institute for Women and Hunerkada, Islamabad have participated in the workshops.
