Mobilink Jazz Brand Ambassador and popular singing star Ali Zafar was also present along with Mobilink Foundation volunteers to add color to this event.

Ali Zafar performed unplugged renditions of popular Pakistani songs with the young cancer patients including Channo, Chal Dil Mere, Dil Dil Pakistan. The young audience clapped cheerfully and joined in the singing as well. He also visited the wards to meet patients who were bed-ridden. Mobilink volunteers and Jazz Brand Ambassador’s interactive activity with the children brought radiant smiles and lifted the spirits of cancer patients. PTA Organize seminar on 3G Technology in Pakistan on this Thursday

Pin It PTA Organize seminar on 3G Technology in Pakistan on this Thursday

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is organizing a seminar on third generation (3G) on June, 10, 2010. Minister In charge for IT, Sardar Mohammad Latif Khan Khosa will be the chief guest on this occasion while Secretary IT, Naguib Ullah Malik will be the guest of honour. Chairman PTA, Dr. Mohammed Yaseen will chair the panel discussion while IT & telecom industry experts and media men will also attend the event.

The seminar will highlight various aspects of 3G Mobile Broadband services and 3G spectrum auctions in Pakistan. Local and international experts will also deliver presentations on 3G mobile Broadband services during the seminar. The objective of this seminar is to deliberate upon the regulatory, policy and technical challenges in connecting Pakistan through 3G Mobile Broadband for which a panel discussion will be carried out during the seminar to get recommendations from the participants of the event.

It may be mentioned that 3G Mobile Broadband is an important step in modernization of mobile telephone system. With the launch of 3G, in future, Pakistani cell phone subscribers will be able to transmit and receive high speed data through their mobile phones. High speed data means possibility of video calls, internet browsing and downloading at a much higher speed which also includes usage of data intensive applications.

Since 3G networks can act as segue to proliferation of broadband in Pakistan and to facilitate the goal, the government, besides looking at financial aspects, would be interested to make 3G spectrum licensing an attractive investment opportunity for the cellular mobile operators. Pakistan 3G market has a great potential and is likely to attract even higher than anticipated investment during the 3G auctions.

It is pertinent to mention here that number of countries like South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, France, Belgium, Japan, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Spain and Denmark have successfully introduced 3G services for their consumers and India has recently auctioned 3G spectrum.

ANWAR KHAN KARACHI (August 12 2009): Exhibitors at the 9th ITCN Asia Show 2009 complained on Tuesday about the power
outages inside the exhibition halls which created suffocation and also affected the visitors because the centralised ventilation system stopped functioning.
Exhibitors said that sufficient arrangements should have been made prior to the event to deal with such problems. Federal secretary of IT and Telecom Naguibullah Malik formally inaugurated the three-day exhibition with the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
According to spokesman of the show organiser, Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd, around 117 foreign delegates are visiting the country's largest IT and Telecom Show, which also dispelled the negative impression about Pakistan's law and order situation.
He blamed Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) for power disruption in the late hours of the show, saying that the existing infrastructure of the Expo Centre which Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) owns is incapable to cope with such an untoward incident. "We (organisers) switched to the power generators as soon as the electricity suspended, which provided electricity to all the stalls immediately but heat and suffocation prevailed," he said.
A thin presence of foreign visitors was witnessed to the ITCN Asia 2009 on the first day. IT exhibitors hoped that there may be a better turn out in the next two days of the show. The show was overwhelmingly dominated by telecom sector and broadband providers. None of the stalls of any prominent mobile phones manufacturing company was seen there.
Stalls of computer gadgets, scanners, laptops, projectors of new designs and sizes, software solution providing firms, broadband providers, water purifying filters, etc were placed where visitors of young age were seen overwhelmingly.
"There is a difference between corporate sector visitors nominated by their firms to attend the exhibition which is done largely in the western world unlike here (Pakistan) as we have received a large number of visitors from different walks of life," observed a representative of a US-based software solution providing firm at the show.
Whereas, spokesman claimed that there are stalls of foreign IT companies in the show amongst them a majority belongs to China. Companies from UAE, US, Singapore and Hong Kong have also set up their stalls. He said that foreign delegates are visiting from France, UAE, Singapore, Hong Kong and Russia but a majority is from China. Pakistani expatriates are also attending the exhibition. Three foreign journalists from France and Russia are also covering the event.
An exhibitor attending the show for the last nine years told that this year's security arrangements was far better than those of the past years. "There is no strict checking and scrutiny by security personnel and the overall environment is much relieved," he added. Overall, the exhibitors were satisfied with the arrangements by the organiser who received a large number of visitors at their respective stalls. People seemed interested at the stalls of broadband internet providers where huge turnout was witnessed.
Sindh IT Minister Raza Haroon and City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil also visited the show and inaugurated the Sindh IT Department Pavilion. Nasreen Jalil on the occasion lauded efforts of the City Government's IT Department which has actively promoted IT in all towns. The department also arranged IT workshops in towns and union councils.
